Framework Alignment and Independence
Competency Labs is an independent platform designed to support competency-based clinical research practice and readiness. Our simulations and rubrics are designed to align with recognized clinical research competency frameworks, ICH-GCP principles, and global regulatory expectations.
Founder Credential Transparency
Competency Labs was founded by Coach Rudy, an IAOCR-certified clinical research trainer and clinical research career coach.
Founder credentials are provided for transparency. Competency Labs is not currently affiliated with, endorsed by, accredited by, or certified by IAOCR, ACRP, SOCRA, ICH, FDA, EMA, MHRA, Health Canada, TransCelerate, MRCT, ISO, or any regulatory authority unless expressly stated in a formal written partnership or accreditation notice.
Fictional Simulation Documents
Competency Labs simulations use fictional training documents generated for educational and assessment practice. These materials must not contain real patient data, sponsor data, site data, or protected health information.
What Competency Labs Results Mean
Competency Scores, simulation results, and Passport Lite profiles are beta practice-based readiness signals. They are designed to support reflection, practice, and skill development. They are not certifications, professional accreditations, job guarantees, or employer-verified credentials.
Future Verification Pathways
Competency Labs may introduce expert-reviewed assessments, partner-reviewed pathways, or externally accredited options in future phases if appropriate written agreements are established.
Competency Labs is built around the principle that competency evidence must be trustworthy. Practice simulations are designed for learning and improvement. Verified simulations are designed to generate stronger evidence and may include timing, copy/paste restrictions, integrity event logging, AI pre-scoring, and human expert review.
Practice vs Verified Simulations
Practice: AI Practice Simulations provide immediate feedback and are not passport-eligible as verified evidence.
Verified: Verified Competency Simulations are designed to be timed, integrity-protected, and human-reviewed before approved evidence can appear on a Competency Passport.
Copy/Paste and AI Tool Restrictions
To protect the value of simulation results, Competency Labs may restrict copying simulation materials and pasting external responses into assessment fields. These restrictions help reduce misuse and protect honest candidates.
Human Review
Passport-eligible evidence may require review and approval by a qualified human reviewer. AI feedback can support learning and pre-scoring, but verified evidence requires additional review before publication.
Beta Limitations
During beta, some features may be AI-reviewed practice experiences only. Verified review workflows and Passport evidence may be piloted with selected users before broader release.
Data Protection
Competency Labs is designed with privacy, security, data minimization, and responsible access controls in mind. Public Passport sharing is off by default, and private simulation responses are not shown publicly unless future user-controlled sharing features are introduced.
Competency Labs does not claim ISO certification, SOC 2 certification, HIPAA compliance, GDPR compliance, or external accreditation unless expressly stated after formal review or certification.
Privacy, security, and data minimization
Competency Labs is building with privacy, security, and data minimization principles in mind. Our beta systems are designed to support responsible handling of personal information, assessment responses, and readiness evidence. We collect only what's needed to give you feedback (name, email, career context, assessment responses, and scores) and we do not sell or rent your data.
How we protect assessment data
Assessment responses, simulation transcripts, and Passport evidence are stored in our backend with row-level security so only the account owner and authorized administrators can read them. Public Passport links are opt-in, use unguessable share tokens, and never expose your email, private notes, admin notes, or raw response text. Reviewer decisions and admin role changes are captured in an internal audit log.
Standards posture (beta)
Competency Labs is designed with data protection principles in mind. We do not currently claim ISO certification, SOC 2 certification, HIPAA compliance, or GDPR compliance. When any formal certification or attestation is completed, we will state it here with dates and scope.
Retention and deletion
Beta data (waitlist records, assessment responses, simulation transcripts, and Passport evidence) may be retained to provide feedback and improve the product unless you request deletion. You can request deletion at any time via the
data deletion request form or by emailing
hello@competencylabs.ai.
